Another Earth

From Nature exhibition, 2015

Another Earth is a highly sexual, feeding and sucking herbaceous entity transcending the shadows to unashamedly bask in the light. The imposing scale of this surreal botanical structure distils the basic elements of plant life, acting conceptually as a mirror to the viewer.

The viewer has a visceral response to the skirt of splintering tongues each reaching out to lick up the sunlight. Standing before the sculpture, the spectator is confronted by the accusatory proboscis, projecting out of the central crown. The interactive experience engages the imagination to reveal parallels in human life, recalling our similarities and the symbiotic relevance of plant life to our own existence.
